EA has now revealed the main features of EA Sports FC 27, which launches on September 25, 2026. Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Edition owners receive access from September 18. This year’s changes focus on manual defending, smarter attacking runs, The Grounds, and expanded systems in Ultimate Team and Career Mode.

Manual defending and new attacking options will also shape competitive tactics. Fans who follow FC Pro or research eSports bets will want to watch how professional players adjust their formations, crosses, and defensive timing. EA has confirmed the headline features, while the final balance and post-launch content remain uncertain.

The Main FC 27 Changes So Far

EA has already shown enough to give players a clear idea of how FC 27 differs from the previous game:

  • You control more defensive actions yourself.
  • New commands change how teammates run into space.
  • The Grounds brings Clubs, casual matches, and social activities into one shared area.
  • FUT adds new ways to collect and develop cards.
  • Career Mode receives a new transfer market and custom challenges.

More Manual Defending and Attacking Runs

FC 27 asks you to handle more of the defending yourself. You choose the defender, control the positioning, and time the tackle. Rush into a challenge too early, and the attacker gets an open route toward the box. Wait too long, and you give them space to shoot or pass.

Triggered Curved Runs give you more control away from the ball. You send a teammate around a defender, guide them toward open space, or help them stay onside. Pass & Follow keeps the passer moving after releasing the ball, making one-two combinations easier to build. Crosses also follow your aim and power more closely, so a careless input may send the ball past every player in the box.

Dynamic Corners introduce additional ways to deliver and attack set pieces. Off-Balance Dribbling also helps agile players carry their momentum through physical contact. This dribbling feature is limited to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The Grounds Brings Clubs Into a Shared World

The Grounds gives up to 100 players one shared place to meet and choose what to play. Each session starts at the Terrace, which connects three districts and provides direct access to the Clubhouse. You join a casual Kickabout, play a 1v1, explore the area, or enter a Clubs match with friends.

Your created Pro stays with you between these activities. Around The Grounds, you meet football mentors, work on the player’s abilities, and earn outfits and cosmetic rewards. The mode turns progression and customization into part of the shared world rather than something you handle entirely through separate screens.

Clubs remains a team-based mode, but the Clubhouse now serves as its entrance inside The Grounds. EA will expand the area through seasons, campaigns, and live updates, with new activities and rewards appearing throughout the year.

New Systems in FUT and Career Mode

FC 27 gives you more to work toward after building a squad or starting a Career save. The new FUT and Career systems cover card collections, player development, transfers, and custom scenarios:

  • Keep a record of your FUT cards. The FUT Gallery remembers eligible Player Items even after you sell them or submit them in an SBC. Complete sets, raise your Gallery Level, and collect rewards.
  • Choose an Evolution path. Branching Evolutions let you decide how selected cards develop instead of following one fixed upgrade route.
  • Play FUT events against AI. Single Player Live Events use themed squads, special rules, and connected stages with different difficulty levels.
  • Search for transfers through TransferRoom. Career Mode uses xTV valuations to show a player’s estimated market value and support negotiations.
  • Follow changing player ratings. Dynamic OVR reacts to form, fitness, and morale during the save.
  • Create your own Career challenges. Manager Career adds shareable scenarios, while Player Career introduces Rivalries that develop across the season.

Which FC 27 Rumors Remain Unconfirmed?

EA has already revealed the main modes, so the current rumor cycle revolves around individual details. You may see leaked player ratings, supposed Icons and Heroes, soundtrack lists, or plans for future The Grounds seasons. EA continues to announce ratings and content in stages, which makes unofficial lists easy to pass around before the complete reveal.

Check whether a claim appears on the official FC 27 news page or an EA Sports FC account. Formations and tactics belong in a different category: players can predict the early meta, but the strongest options will emerge only after the community spends time with the final gameplay.

FC 27 brings ideas that deserve attention, especially manual defending and The Grounds. On paper, both sound like meaningful changes. In an actual match, though, will manual control make defending more satisfying or just less predictable? The Grounds faces a different test: players may enjoy exploring it in September, but will they still choose it over familiar menus a month later? EA has shown what is changing. We still need to see whether those changes remain interesting once the launch excitement settles.
